What information we collect
We only collect the information we need to deal with you. Depending on how you use our services, this can include:
- Contact details: your name, address, email address and phone number
- Details of your items: descriptions, photos and videos of jewellery, watches, coins or diamonds, including serial numbers
- Payment details: your bank details, so that we can pay you for items you sell to us
- Proof of identity: when we need to confirm who you are, for example before buying items from you
- Messages: anything you tell us by email, through our website forms, by WhatsApp or by phone
Why we use your information
- To answer your enquiries and give you quotes
- To buy items from you, sell items to you, and carry out valuations, repairs and servicing
- To pay you, and to keep the records we need for our accounts and tax
- To help prevent crime, for example by checking that items are not lost or stolen
We use your information because it is needed to deal with your enquiry or sale, because we have a legal duty (for example to keep accounts), or because we have a legitimate interest in running our business safely. We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We only share it where needed, with:
- Royal Mail, to send and return items
- Our bank, to make payments to you
- Our accountant, for our accounts
- Our website and email host, IONOS, and WhatsApp (Meta), which we use to communicate with you
- The police or other authorities, where the law requires it or to help prevent crime
Our website
Our website uses only the cookies it needs to work, for example to remember the items in your basket. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our website loads fonts from Google, and our diamond search is provided by Rapaport, who may set their own cookies. Enquiries you send through the diamond search are delivered to us through Rapaport.
Where your information is stored
Your information is mainly held in the UK. Some of the services we use, such as email and messaging providers, may store information outside the UK. Where this happens, they use the safeguards required by UK law.
How long we keep it
We do not keep a customer database. We keep your information only as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry, sale or repair, and for as long as the law requires for our business records (usually 6 years for accounts). After that, it is deleted.
When you sell to us or use our 28 day buy back service, we keep a copy of your ID and your signed agreement securely with the record of the sale, only for as long as we need it for that sale and our business records.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, please contact us using the details above.
Automated decisions
We do not use automated decision-making, profiling or artificial intelligence (AI) to make decisions about you. If this ever changes, we will update this policy.
Keeping your information safe
We keep your information secure, limit who can see it, and use password-protected and secured accounts for our email and records.
Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact us first and we will do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. Telephone 0303 123 1113. ico.org.uk
